Degenerative Disc Disease


Did you know that we're slightly taller in the morning than we are at night? . 1/4 of the length of our spine comes from our intervertebral discs, or discs between the vertebrae, the bones that make up our spine. Over the course of the day, increased intervertebral pressure compresses these discs, which are allowed to re-lengthen overnight when lying down. . Degenerative disc disease, or years-long gradual breakdown of these intervertebral discs, is a common cause of back pain in older adults. Some even consider it to be a normal part of aging. But that doesn't have to be the case! In a couple upcoming posts we'll explore why ☝️
