Obesity and Estrogen

Updated: Jan 18, 2019

~~ Obesity and Estrogen ~~ Fat cells contain aromatase, an enzyme that converts testosterone into estrogen. Those with obesity have higher conversion of testosterone into estrogen, and thus tend to have abnormally elevated estrogen levels. In women 👩, a high estrogen level increases the risk of both breast and endometrial cancer, and can cause irregular menstrual cycles. In men 👱, a higher estrogen to testosterone ratio can cause erectile dysfunction as well as gynecomastia, or enlarged breast tissue. Through diet and exercise we can keep this ever-growing epidemic of obesity at bay. When it comes to your health, knowledge is #power 💪 and prevention is #key 🔑
